The Aurora R-VIII School District will be holding a graduation ceremony for all eligible seniors on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Kelley Field. A rain date has been set for Friday, June 19, 2020 in case of inclement weather.
The commencement exercise will begin at 7:00 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Parents and family members are asked to refrain from lining up before 5:00 p.m. in order to assist with distancing for those waiting to enter the facility.
Graduates will be seated on the field along with the stage where they will receive their diplomas. Both the home and visitor bleachers will be used to provide seating for all attending. It is asked that only immediate family members attend the proceedings (parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.).
Space will also be made available on the field in order to increase distance between attendees (you may bring lawn chairs for seating). Families are encouraged to sit together.
In order to decrease movement during the ceremony, the district has hired a photographer and will be providing a diploma picture free of charge for each graduate. The ceremony will be live-streamed through the High School Facebook page and will be posted later on YouTube.
Four entrances will be open to ease the flow of incoming guests (southwest corner by the concession stand, southeast corner by the restrooms, northeast corner by the Junior High parking lot and the gate by the southwest doors of the Junior High).
After completion of graduation, it is asked that families leave Kelley Field and move to other locations to celebrate the accomplishments of their graduate. We thank you in advance for your cooperation with these requests.
